“Ceramics become a quiet dialogue between memory, language, and reflection.”
Hadia Gana works with ceramics as a space for listening and contemplation — listening to what accumulates in memory, and to what quietly seeps through the everyday and the fleeting.
Her practice draws from the social environment of Libya, not to document it, but to reconsider and reflect upon it. She gathers familiar expressions and commonly used proverbs — words that may pass lightly on the tongue yet carry considerable weight in their meaning — and places them within new contexts. She slows their rhythm, opening them up to new possibilities of interpretation.
Her works do not offer answers; rather, they invite contemplation. Between fragility and strength, between what is spoken and what remains unspoken, an open dialogue takes shape — between past and present, and between the artwork and its viewer.
Here, ceramics and clay become more than materials. They become a way of thinking, and an ongoing attempt to listen anew to what we believe we already know.
